The Mae Shi! Live @ KXLU

the mae shi! probably one of the most fun and entertaining shows i’ve ever been to [this was before ezra stepped down as lead singer].

after they played my friend ben and i had a conversation with jeff [lead guitar] about what exactly he was doing with a flashlight and his guitar during the show. he then explained how he built this light and pressure sensitive thing-a-ma-jig into his guitar that made crazy noises.

jeff byron is a mad scientist!

anyway, this boot is of a radio broadcast from a KXLU fundraising something-er-other. this is the only recording of miss philistine that i know of. good stuff.

enjoy!

At the Drive-In – Live in Philadelphia – 10-18-2000

i like this boot because it captures the band almost at the peak

before all the coke went to omar and cedric’s noses and heads, respectively.

incidentally, i came up with a name for the next mars volta album:

we should really quit trying so hard to be artistic

or

we are the mars volta. now, give us $40.
